Composites of Nanobent ® filled polyurethane resins

Abstract

The preparation of composites based on polyurethane resins (RenPIM-VG 5234, 5286 and 5287 as well as RenCast FC55) applicable in vacuum casting filled with 0-3 wt. % of the nanofiller Nanobent ® ZR1 or ZR2 (Table 1, Fig. 1) has been presented. The chosen polyol was homogenized at various temperatures by using either an ultrasound bath, a high-speed homogenizer or a combination of both. The influence of the type and amount of nanofiller, temperature and dispersion method on the mechanical properties of the obtained nanocomposites (Tables 2-4) as well as on the morphology of their surfaces (Figs. 2 and 3) was examined. Nanocomposites comprising of 3 wt. % of NanoBent ® ZR1 in the matrix of RenPIM-VG 5286 exhibited optimal rigidity, resistance and fine-platelet morphology properties.
