Effects of selected injection molding conditions on crack resistance of polypropylene composite with talc

Abstract

The results of investigations of the effects of injection molding conditions on Rice's integral J values for the composites of polypropylene with 25 wt. % of talc (PPH 25T) are presented. The specimens for tests were prepared by injection molding according to the schedule elaborated (Fig. 1-3, Table 1 and 2). Rice's integral was taken as a measure for crack resistance evaluation. Pareto analysis, enabling us to assume the effects of selected injection molding conditions (mold temperature, injection temperature and velocity, clamping pressure) on Rice's integral value, has been done (Fig. 4). It was found that mold temperature and injection temperature influence most the crack resistance of PPH 25T composite (Fig. 5-7).
