The most important problems examined in the section,Radical Polymerization" of IUPAC MACRO 2000 have been discussed. 80% of 87 contributions concerned chemical control of radical polymerization course., After general characterization of radical polymerization as a living process three groups of such control methods have been presented (on the basis of the newest iterature data as well as congress contributions) as follows: a) stable free radical polymerization-SFRP, (b) atom transfer adical polymerization-ATRP, (c) reversible addition-ragmentation chain transfer polymerization-RAFT.
