Methods of flammability reduction of polystyrene with an important role of chemical modification. Part II. Chemical modifications of polystyrene

Abstract

The paper is the second part of a review of polystyrene (PS) modification methods designed to improve its fire resistance. The present study is focused on the reactive flame retardants, which form covalent bonds with the PS backbone. The chemical modifications were classified according to the type of the modified compound, i.e. styrene, polystyrene or flame retardant used as a comonomer in the polymerization of styrene.
