Automated control of the preform reheating process in the manufacturing of PET containers. Part 1, Definition of the problem and description of the controlled object

Abstract

The paper presents selected results of the research work focusing on the development of automatic temperature control system for the reheated poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) preforms in the manufacturing of containers by stretch blow molding technology. The main problem was characterized, the objective of control was defined and the controlled object was described using the cause and effect relationship, typically applied in the synthesis of control systems. The following elements of the system were described: structure of the object, partial physical processes, actuators, causal and consequential variables as well as disturbance factors. The static properties of selected elements of the controlled object, as well as the ability to compensate for disturbances that influence the preform reheating process, were discussed.
