New polyol for the production of rigid polyurethane-polyisocyanurate foams. Part I. Characteristics and conditions of new boroorganic polyol preparation

Abstract

A synthesis of new boroorganic polyol on the basis of boric acid and N,N'-di(methyleneoxy-3-hydroxypropylo)urea has been developed [equation (1)]. The product obtained was characterized mainly from the point of view of its usefulness as polyol component for rigid PUR foams production. The results of density, viscosity, hydroxyl number, and water content show the product can be used for this application. Analyses done by IR (Table 1, Fig. 1) and 1H NMR (Table 2, Fig. 2) methods confirmed the presence of active hydroxyl groups. The thermal stability of boroorganic polyol described was characterized as well (Fig. 3).
