Syntheses and photocuring of methacrylurethanes from polybutadienols differing in molecular weights

Abstract

The new oligobutadienemethacrylurethanes were synthesized from polybutadienols differing in molecular weights and two diisocyanates (TDI or IPDI). The products obtained were then cured with UV radiation in the presence of photoinitiator. The effect of polybutadienol used, i.e. the length of soft segment in the product, on the properties of polymer prepared has been determined. There were found the flow characteristics of oligomers' synthesized (Table 1). The mechanical strength (Fig. 1, 2, 4), hardness (Fig. 3), water absorption and absorption of organic solvents (Fig. 5) of cured polybutadienemethacrylurethanes were evaluated. DSC method was applied to find glass transition temperature of the products (Fig. 6). It was found that the properties of photocured polymers obtained depended on molecular weight of polybutadienol used in the syntheses.
