Investigation of inclusion properties of p-tert-butylcalixarenes by inversion gas chromatography method

Abstract

Inclusion properties of p-tert-butylcalixarenes having 4, 6 or 8 mers in a cycle [formula (I), Fig. 3] and of their acetates were characterized using inverse gas chromatography. Two homologous series of solutes were used in the study - aliphatic alcohols and benzene and its homologues. It was found that inclusion properties significantly depend on the size of molecular gap of cyclomer (Fig. 1, 2, 4 and 5). Change of hydroxyl groups of calixarene to acetate ones does not influence essentially the possibility of formation of „host-guest” complexes. The results obtained by QSRR method, were confirmed with Kováts indices determined (Table 3).
