Microemulsions as the sources of nanolatexes and nanoreactors

Abstract

In the review the rules of emulsions' classification were presented. Microemulsions, being the subject of the work, were generally characterized (Fig. 1-5, Table 1). Some most important features of practical applications of reversed microemulsions (w/o type) were discussed in detail, namely processes of polymerization or copolymerization accomplished in such environment, formation of nanometric inorganic particles (Fig. 6), bioorganic syntheses using enzymes (Fig. 7) as well as the performance organic syntheses with hydrophilic and hydrophobic reagents.
