Mechanical properties of selected polymeric surgical sutures

Abstract

The breaking strength of the absorbable and non-absorbable sutures after 7 or 14 days exposure to Ringer's solution was evaluated using astatic tensile test. It was found that the absorbable sutures broke at ahigher load than the non-absorbable ones. The exposure to body fluid has asignificant influence on the values of breaking force.
