Properties of triple-layered pvc coatings synthesized in the micropore coextrusion method

Abstract

The application of the microcellular co-extrusion method (Fig. 1) at specific parameters to obtain triple-layered coatings for single core electrical cables on the basis of PVC containing 0.1-1.0 % of a blowing agent has been presented. The changes observed in electrical energy consumption in the technological process and in the rotational speed of the extrusion screws caused by the amount of the applied blowing agent were evaluated with special consideration on the economy of materials and energy (Tables 1, 2). Some specific properties (Table 3) and the microstructure of the obtained triple-layered coatings (Figs. 2, 3) were evaluated.
