A new method of poly(aspartic acid) synthesis under microwave radiation

Abstract

In the Department of Chemistry and Technology of Polymers at the Cracow University of Technology a new original method of poly(aspartic acid) synthesis in microwave radiation field has been developed. The syntheses carried out mainly without the catalyst, using two different monomers: aspartic acid and maleic acid ammonium salt. The products were characterized using infrared spectroscopy (IR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). Also thermal properties of poly(aspartic acid) were determined by coupled methods - thermogravimetry coupled with infrared spectroscopy (TG/FTIR) or with mass spectrometry (TG/MS).
